"Calgary is ready for its first black mayor."
Taxes, spending & infrastructure
Subsidize Wages & Rent
Help for small businesses to hire new employees and cover overheads.
I will provide a 50% subsidy to pay rent and wages, up to a $100k, to small businesses that hire a minimum of 4 employees that work 40 hours a week.
Increase Teacher Wages
Teachers play a crucial role in seeing our youth prosper and facilitating a smarter population. I will increase the wages that Calgary's hard-working educators deserve.
Rent to Own
Responsible, long-term renters deserve the option to own their home.
I will enact a program for renters to own their dwelling after paying $500 monthly for 20 years, or $1000 monthly for 10 years.
Accessible transit is needed to get cars off the road, young people to school, and elderly people where they need to go.
I will subsidize transit passes by 50% for these groups.
social issues & public policy
To combat racism, I will make Indigenous Studies and Racial Injustice Studies mandatory in grade school curriculums.
Rethinking Calgary Police Services.
In an effort to reduce unfair treatment and bad encounters with minorities, I will eliminate the bad cops that make the other 99% look bad, hire more good cops and reduce overtime.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
I will push for increased accountability for racial and gender-based discrimination.
I will enact rent control laws, and provide subsidies and grants for affordable housing.
I will convert empty offices downtown into affordable condos.
Mental Health Support
I will hire more psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and nurses to fight for mental health, and raise their pay by 10%.
The rate of suicide in Alberta & Canada is sadly unfortunate and I will do all I can to reduce that. Victims of mental health will no more be neglected under my leadership.
climate, energy & Sustainability
philosophy & guiding principles
I will put an end to corrupt practices that the government uses to gain revenue, like property taxes, speeding tickets and parking tickets.
I will prosecute corrupt politicians that defraud the City of Calgary, revoke licenses of shady businesses, and seize politician's ill-gotten assets to return them to the citizens of Calgary.
Increase accountability by requiring a more structured approach to budgeting.
All future projects need a scheduled beginning and end date.
The City can no longer overpay their contractors.
