I PLEDGE MY VOTE TO YOU!

My values guide the way I see the world, guide my decisions, and guide my actions. I’ve worked hard to distill my core values: collaboration, connecting, community, choice, and fiscal conservatism.

Entrepreneurial thinkers have seen the gaps in our economy, our politics, our businesses and our creative worlds. They have stepped in and filled those gaps - with innovation and compassion.
We could all learn from them.
Let’s allow them to do what they do best with minimal government intervention and taxation.
“The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred with dust and sweat; who strives valiantly, who errs and may fall again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming.” (Theodore Roosevel, 1910)

Education is one key to growing healthy individuals, caring communities and a strong economy.
Education is not only the ongoing work of improving our public and private K-12 schools but making post-secondary more accessible. Educating students on how to not simply memorize history or facts but how to learn outside of the box, to train their brain for creative and critical thinking is pivotal to our flourishing. Healthy cultures see education as the responsibility of the whole “village” and benefits everyone.
Developing critical thinking and life-long learning habits are the building blocks of an individual's growth, healthy families and a vibrant society.

Our doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers are tired and stressed. Money and government programs have not reduced our wait times.
For us to have a healthy system, we must have healthy providers.
Let’s listen to them and use a bottom-up approach to collaborate and find ways to improve their physical health and their mental health. This is the foundation to build on for a better system.

A Green Party of Alberta government will support changes that would see the cost of prescription drugs covered by our provincial healthcare program. A Green Party of Alberta government will recognize that the costs to government of providing pharmacare will be less if implementation of this program is put in place and coordinated across the country. For example, the provinces will be able to get a better price on many drugs if they purchase them jointly rather than province by province. Accordingly, the Green Party strongly supports a pan-Canadian approach to implementation of pharmacare but wants to see the province of Alberta show leadership on this issue.

Those without stable housing, with addiction and mental health concerns, are our vulnerable. We must continue to be generous and strategic with our resources as we continue to seek solutions to these concerns.
The other layer to this is often our own uncomfortableness and even fear around how to engage with this community. We need to address our honest reaction to these individuals when they are “in our backyard”. Especially when we feel our families and our businesses are at risk. There is a tension between wanting to help and our frustration when all of our helping has only seen this problem continue to grow. We must build our understanding while cultivating opportunities for our vulnerable to give back and feel empowered. “Through reciprocity the gift is replenished. All of our flourishing is mutual.” (Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass, 2015)
